‘Love & Peace in Chinese’.
Painted in a public art studio behind customs at Schiphol Airport, a few days after nine-elven in 2001. The world seemed in danger of a Third World War. I designed the bombs turning into flowers together with a Russian veteran soldier who was tired of the wars he’d fought in. He wanted peace and nothing else.
Chinese calligraphy by mister Mountain Liu, a calligraphy artist on tour.
The moment I decided that Chinese calligraphy was needed in this painting, mr Liu passed by… lucky me.
